Offering a shift
Choose Offer a Shift, select the shift type your organization already uses, choose the date, and add optional notes or an incentive if you want to.
What members see
Once the shift is live, it appears in Open Shifts. Members can browse what is available and use the shift-type filters to narrow the list.
If a member has Smart Alerts set up, ShyftMate can also notify them when a new shift matches the shift types and days they care about.
Claiming a shift
Open the shift and choose Claim. If it is still available, ShyftMate moves it into claimed status and lets the offerer know their shift was picked up.
If two people try at nearly the same time, the app shows the current result instead of letting the same shift be claimed twice.
Canceling an offered shift
If your shift is still available, you can cancel the offer from its Shift Detail screen.
At that point, follow whatever procedures your workplace requires if something needs to change.
When you cancel your own unclaimed offer, ShyftMate does not send you a notification telling you what you just did. The cancellation still remains visible in your shift history.
What happens if nobody claims it?
An unclaimed shift expires when it reaches that shift type's start time. You do not have to remember to close it manually.
ShyftMate can also warn you ahead of time when one of your offered shifts is still unclaimed as the start time gets closer. Release 1 includes a six-hour warning so you have time to decide what to do next.
Optional incentives
You can add an incentive when offering a shift if you want to make the opportunity more attractive to coworkers.
You offer an Eves shift and add an incentive. Other members can see that an incentive is included when they view the shift details.
Incentives are arrangements between employees. ShyftMate does not collect, hold, transfer, verify, guarantee, or enforce incentive payments.
Your workplace rules still matter
ShyftMate helps employees coordinate. It does not replace your employer's scheduling, approval, attendance, payroll, union, contractual, or paperwork requirements. If your workplace requires an additional step, keep following that process.
